Estrogen is a hormone produced by the body. It helps to keep the genital skin condition healthy and it prevents vaginal dryness.

At menopause, estrogen levels go down and symptoms may occur from the lack of this hormone in the body. One symptom that bothers many women is hot flashes. Other symptoms are vaginal itching, irritation and dryness. When you replace the estrogen that is lacking in the body, it may ease these uncomfortable symptoms.
